Blackpink, one of South Korea’s top girl groups, has taken the world by storm since their debut in 2016. A force to be reckoned with in more than just music, the quartet brings an electric, youthful dynamic to the fashion and beauty realm, too. Case in point: each member has collaborated with major fashion houses such as Chanel, Dior, Celine and Saint Laurent.
Earning the nickname of “Human Chanel” by her army of fans, Jennie’s doll-like features and razor-sharp acumen for fashion has made her a front row fixture at fashion week. Jisoo has been championing understated elegance with Dior, joining the ranks of other celebrity ambassadors like Anya Taylor-Joy, Suzy Bae and more.
Equally popular with designers like Anthony Vaccarello and Hedi Slimane are Blackpink’s affable maknaes (youngest), Rosé and Lisa, who have strong reputations for being fashion chameleons. In September, Rosé attended the 2021 Met Gala in a Saint Laurent minidress and towering heels, styled and escorted by Vaccarello himself.
Though the group makes headlines with almost every couture look they grace us with, their influence bleeds far into streetwear as well. When they aren’t busy recording their next hit song, the foursome kicks back in brands like Vetements and Off-White. Blackpink-approved off-duty staples include oversized knits, cropped tops, the latest kicks on the market as well as jeans in looser, comfortable fits.
It’s clear from the groups’ denim fixation that relaxed jean fits are going nowhere this year. After being swapped out for their form-fitting counterparts a little more than a decade ago, casual, baggier silhouettes such as Levi’s 501 jeans have been making a welcomed comeback from the ‘90s. Although the silhouette made a nostalgic return to the spring/summer 2022 runways of fan-favourite labels like Balenciaga, they have been updated with a mélange of other renewed trends such as low-slung hip-huggers and embellished statement-makers. Want to get in on the trend? Below, a guide to dressing up a pair of jeans like Blackpink.

Jisoo: Minimal accessories

Jisoo: Elevate with platforms
If you want to party without the pain, platforms are your best bet. Jisoo favours those with a black, chunky sole that add both edge and height so she gets the best of both worlds.
