Just because denim is a wardrobe staple, it doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Look no further than Blackpink’s fashion darling, Jennie Kim, for evidence. The new-gen idol has developed a denim formula that is both practical and fresh.
If anyone had any doubt that Jennie is a certified denim influencer, then her recent appointment as a Calvin Klein ambassador confirms this. It was Calvin Klein who, by placing his logo on the back pocket of his jeans, made “designer jeans” a thing in the mid- ’70s, and the label has ensured that it has since stayed relevant by working with ambassadors from Kate Moss in the ’90s to Jennie in 2021.
While it’s a delight to observe and fantasise over the trophy pieces that elevate Jennie’s wardrobe, her approach to denim is one that we can all try. Those on the hunt for new Jennie-approved denim should shop skater-girl silhouettes. Or, look to these nine outfits for inspiration.
