The first-ever Fashion Week kicked off in New York, 1943; a celebration and testament to a designer’s craft and eye for detail. It also served as an alternative for the sartorially-conscious set who were unable to access French-designed garments during World War II, since travel was made impossible then, thus depriving consumers of certain fits and styles that were deemed in vogue. Fast forward 79 years and Fashion Week still persists—now available in countless iterations across the globe. As it is, an entire lexicon and language has sprung up surrounding one of the biggest events within the fashion realm. Questions asked every season include: what new direction will this luxury house take? When is the next luminary primed to take over? And, most pressingly, who are going to be the best dressed celebrities at Fashion Week?

It is a phenomenon that has grown more apparent over the last couple of years, with Hollywood attendees showing up and stealing the show in designer-approved ensembles. Blake Lively, Rina Sawayama, and Olivia Palermo made appearances at New York Fashion Week’s fall/winter 2022 showcases, for one, sporting structured coats, cropped cuts and unique fits that were just as memorable as the creations sent down the runway. With Milan Fashion Week now in full swing, it stands to reason that we, too, are looking out for the next slew of best dressed celebrities.
