Boho is no longer a movement—it’s a style disposition. Permanently adopted by countless fashion-lovers, “boho” has become completely embedded in the mainstream: high-street retailers have riffed on Chemena Kamali’s refined “boho” vision for Chloé, an appointment that has almost singlehandedly become the catalyst (and blueprint) of the modern boho wave. Elsewhere, resale sites are stocking broderie anglaise, fringing, tassels and lace in abundance. The latest boho staple that loyalists will be embracing for 2026? A beaded necklace.

Colourful beads aren’t exclusively “boho”, as such, but they do boast a kind of carefree spirit. Imbued with holiday feeling, beaded necklaces inevitably look their best when worn on dampened, salty skin, snaking alongside a bikini top. But their wear isn’t restricted to sunny settings, and they can offer a point of interest for, say, a knitted V-neck jumper or slightly-unbuttoned striped shirt. The appetite for beaded jewellery has also prospered in office environments, championed by city dwellers as a statement-making accessory to elevate basic work outfits.

Let Michael Rider’s Celine debut serve as inspiration: the designer finished several spring/summer 2026 looks with playful beads. Most notably, one look featured a stack of at least 20 colourful beaded necklaces of varying lengths. And at Matthieu Blazy’s inaugural Chanel outing, multiple looks came with poppy, tubular-shaped beads that were further embellished with delicate crystals.

Options can be found in various shapes, colours and sizes, from glazed spherical beads in earthy tones, to subtle glass disc chains complete with crystal pendants and marbled irregularly-shaped stones. Length-wise, styles that sit at the centre of the neck—and higher iterations that verge on a nostalgic choker—are among the most popular, while longer iterations that skim the sternum offer more of an impact.
