Don Julio González believed in doing things for love as he pursued his vision of making exceptional tequila, and in the process, revolutionising the tequila industry in Mexico.
It is fitting, then, that ultra-premium tequila brand Don Julio’s new global campaign is centred on Por Amor, which translates to ‘For Love’. Celebrating and exploring what it means to follow your heart over your head, this universal message resonates with creatives, craftsmen and artists around the world. Now, working with media creators all over Mexico, Don Julio has released the anthem film A Love Letter To Mexico, a powerfully magnetic ode to the culture, community and land where the brand’s exquisite tequilas are crafted.
Over in Singapore, an electrifying launch event at Tipsy Unicorn Beach Club in Sentosa set the tone for the powerful artistic collaborations Don Julio is known for, in line with its reputation as the celebrity tipple of choice. As guests mingled over serves of Don Julio cocktails, the pulsating soundtrack was provided by DJ Aldrin, luminary guardian of our local electronic dance scene and widely regarded as one of Singapore’s best DJs.

An exciting sonic accompaniment came in the form of contemporary French musician Sandy Sax, who fuses classic jazz with electro-house for a unique modern sound. Sax was a pandemic breakout star, playing his saxophone on his balcony to thank healthcare practitioners. His art grew phenomenally from there, and he now chases his dreams on the global stage.
The last collaborator who took the stage was Indonesian singer and guitarist Arya Yunata—known for his soulful vocals and guitar melodies—whose musical journey has brought him to Singapore. The evening was well anchored by emcee Caitanya Tan, a theatre-trained professional who kept the energy high and spirits flowing all night.

This party of epic proportions also heralded the Singapore debut of two exceptional new tequila expressions—the signature Don Julio Rosado and ultra-luxe Don Julio Ultima Reserva.
The Rosado takes its delicate pink hue from the cask finishing process in ruby port wine casks, a fortified red wine from Portugal. This also lends a distinctive note of dried red fruit and caramel, complementing the smoothness of its reposado base. When enjoyed chilled on its own or on the rocks, the Don Julio Rosado is a refreshing aperitif and is best paired with breezy dishes such as salads and fresh seafood.

Meanwhile, the ultra-premium Don Julio Ultima Reserva was born of Don Julio’s far-sighted legacy. In 2006, together with his family, he personally planted the final agave field with the finest calibre Blue Agave plant—a harvest designated for the Ultima Reserve. For connoisseurs, this is a most sought after and rare bottling, taking a minimum of three years to mature using a Solera ageing system and combining tequilas of different ages from different casks.
Upon first sip, you’ll discover the toasted oak and vanilla notes from bourbon casks, which soon give way to the smooth, honeyed agave notes that end with refreshing hints of citrus and apricots. A small fluted glass is ideal for sipping it neat, or in a rocks glass with a cube or two of ice to open up the burst of flavours even further.
While the party wrapped up on a high note with new friendships made and fresh experiences unlocked, it also left guests with the reminder to follow your heart, wherever it may take you. As Don Julio would have wanted, do it por amor!
