The biggest night in British film, the 2025 BAFTAs, is always influential but, this year, this star-studded ceremony comes at a particularly significant juncture. A truncated awards season, post-Golden Globes and in the wake of the devastating LA wildfires, has resulted in a highly unpredictable race: there have been a flurry of scandals which have harmed Oscar frontrunners including Emilia Pérez and The Brutalist, and then the shocking twist of the Critics’ Choice Awards, Directors’ Guild of America Awards and Producers Guild Awards all anointing the same release, one which had hitherto fallen behind its competition: Sean Baker’s Anora. In the run-up to the British Academy Film Awards, the question swirled: will this event confirm the latter’s surge and give it yet another boost ahead of the Academy Awards, or will another dark horse emerge and upend everything?
Below, see all of the winners from the 2025 BAFTAs.
