Vogue Singapore presents our inaugural podcast series, Vogue Uncut, in celebration of International Women’s Day. Hosted by the editors of Vogue Singapore, each episode discusses critical topics and issues that women in Singapore face—from the challenges of egg freezing to the intricacies of race, gender and intersectionality—presenting unfiltered and candid conversations with guests that include renowned healers, creatives, entrepreneurs and innovators.
Brown is beautiful. As grown, confident women, we know this inherently, but it may not always be the easiest to remember—particularly, if you are told throughout your life that hallmarks of your race and culture (from the graceful swirls of henna on your palms to the nostalgic scent of the cuisine you consider your own) are ugly, undesirable or less-than.
The speakers on today’s podcast episode are intimately acquainted with these experiences—and they are ready to get vulnerable. Joining host and Vogue Singapore’s associate lifestyle editor Chandreyee Ray are beloved content creators Preetipls and Qilah Rose, for an intimate dialogue on race, gender and intersectionality in Singapore’s creative scene.
But this conversation is not a disheartening one. Listen as we candidly (and humorously) share the many ways in which racism affects our experiences as creatives—from dealing with tokenism to becoming de facto voices for our communities—and our best advice for other brown women entering this space.
As we explore the true power that allyship really holds, our hope is that this episode will be a jump-off point for you to have valuable conversations within your own communities to cultivate greater empathy, sisterhood and solidarity.
Hosted by the editors of Vogue Singapore, each episode of the Vogue Uncut podcast discusses critical topics and issues that women in Singapore face—from the challenges of egg freezing and living life on your own terms to the balancing act of motherhood and career. Tune in weekly for unfiltered and candid conversations with guests that include renowned healers, creatives, entrepreneurs and innovators.
