Welcome to the tell it like it is Vogue Uncut episode on elective egg freezing in Singapore. Hosted by Vogue’s beauty director, Alli Sim, this episode features Kim Unwin, co-founder of Fertility Support SG and Tanvi Bhatia, a 37 year old private equity professional who braved through three rounds of elective egg freezing as a single woman. Together they’ve lived through at least eight rounds of stimulations aka egg freezing between them.
As cisgender women, we’re born with all the eggs we’ll ever have in our lifetime.
Society celebrates 30 being the new 20, however the data is clear: ovarian reserves diminish from the age of 25 onwards.
And while the age limit for elective egg freezing among single women in Singapore was raised to 37 in 2023, there remains no co-funding, financial assistance of any kind (not even Medisave), according to Singapore’s Ministry of Health.
Despite this, egg freezing is still regarded as the smartest way to future-proof your fertility. This episode delves into the need-to-know facts about egg freezing and how to prepare your mind and body for improved egg quality. It also examines realities such as costs, why there’s no 100 per cent guarantees of success, and even explores how to navigate work and relationships as you take charge of your fertility narrative.
