Van Cleef & Arpels is one of the most romantic jewellers in the world. Not simply in the sense of love between individuals, but in its world view of idealised beauty. Even the simplest things, when they enter the orbit of this Parisian maison, are imbued with the draw not of how things are but how they ought to be.
That’s especially so with the motifs the house cherishes most dearly. Fairies and ballerinas—a vision of femininity and grace so unblemished it is nearly divine; The flora and fauna of nature—the utter perfection of the world around us; And luck—the charmed belief that every door will open, that something extraordinary is about to happen any minute, any day, any month.

And so it is that every year the maison celebrates the arrival of spring as a bringer of new life, new possibilities. The collection to which it has dedicated this season of renewal is aptly named Lucky Spring, introduced in 2021, and which has grown in it a precious garden of ladybug, lily of the valley and plum blossom motifs.

These harbingers of spring are crafted from a palette of rose gold, white mother-of-pearl, onyx and carnelian. And because it is through the romantic, faultless perspective of Van Cleef & Arpels, these materials are so carefully selected and worked as to appear flawless. Carnelians are brilliant and vivid, onyx is deep and pure, mother-of-pearl is delicately iridescent—just so—and gold is polished and shaped on each and every minute perlée bead to mirrored perfection. In a garden like this, looking at clouds you’d never think of rain.
