The Rockstud has always been a perennial staple at the house of Valentino through the years; a recognised motif of the maison’s penchant for longevity and timeless elegance. Its distinctive stud design was first introduced ten years ago, and is inspired by the eye-catching metallic details present on the Roman Palazzo. It exhibits all there is to love about the brand—with the studs exuding an aristo-punk attitude, channeling rebellion and a youthful spirit to the otherwise timeless and elegant design language of Valentino.
For its pre-fall 2023 collection, the maison looked to revamp the distinctive motif with a new campaign and a louder-than-life slogan. The new campaign—named “I Mean…It’s Rockstud!”—expresses the passion and love for a specific fashion item one simply cannot live without, and sees new Valentino Garavani accessories fronting the maison’s signature motif. The collection includes two new footwear silhouettes as well as a new shoulder bag, all in the house’s best-selling colours. The first footwear is a reissued variation of the coveted Valentino Rockstud pumps, fine tuned ever so slightly and offered in new shades of Ivory and the signature PP Pink.
Chiming in nicely with the current trends of ‘balletcore‘ and ‘librarian-core‘, the maison has also released a new style of ballerina Rockstud flats. These flats are similar to their traditional counterparts with the exception of the statement studs lining the exterior, balancing style and wearability. Available in three colourways and an alternative model with a strap running up the mid-calf, the design highlights Valentino’s seamless ability to inject classic items with a bold twist.
Of course to complete the look, the new Valentino Garavani Rockstud 23 bag, boasts a streamlined silhouette in supple calfskin leather. Available in two sizes and an assortment of colourways, the boxy top handle is a gleaming example of the maison’s storied craft and legacy.
