Close followers of Valentino would be familiar with the brand’s signature red shade—symbolic of its heritage and founder, Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani. So when creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli sent 40 head-to-toe pink looks down the runway for the maison’s autumn/winter 2022 collection, it was a radical fashion moment. Shocking as it was effective, Piccioli’s concentration on a monochromatic hue served to remove distractions and drew attention to every piece’s shape and textural details. As an aftereffect it also spurred on an unstoppable Barbiecore movement which has proven to be one of the season’s hottest trends.

Now with a new Pantone colour of its own, Valentino’s Pink PP collection is giving the hue a new meaning and sense of individuality—liberated from its feminine and cultural connotations. One look at the strong line-up of womenswear, menswear and accessories makes it clear that Piccioli envisions everyone pulling off the shade in their wardrobe. “The subtraction, is in fact, amplification magnifying both the humans and the clothing. A variety of bodies, attitudes, and physicalities, enhanced by the monochromatic palette, bring such a vision to life,” shares the brand’s press notes.

On that note, shoppers can look forward to a variety of silhouettes and finishes in Valentino’s Pink PP collection. The must-have accessory? The Valentino Garavani One Stud top handle newly introduced in a mini size, which boasts pink lacquered hardware and a large, singular clasp. From sky-high patent leather platforms to diaphanous blouses, there’s plenty for everyone to play with.
