Style has a new home in The Singapore Edition. Nestled along Cuscaden Road, Edition Hotels’ first outpost in Southeast Asia sits within a contemporary bronze and glass facade conceived by the renowned Safdie Architects and local studio DP.
Step inside and the vibe shifts completely. Austere white walls reach up to a gleaming dome ceiling covered in gold leaf, bathing the marbled lobby in a warm glow. An expansive wall to ceiling window lets in natural light, alongside views of a soaring biophilic green wall.
Sheathed in pink velvet, the Lobby Bar boasts a rose-coloured pool table crafted from Calacatta marble as its centrepiece. Christian Liaigre doe leather chairs and lamps accent the space, while Lalique-inspired crystal decanters and sculptures adorn the bar top. Nearby, the signature Edition spiral staircase leads guests down to the lower floor, where a stunning courtyard garden, ballroom and several eclectic event rooms await. Cast in white Venetian plaster, the vortex of the stairway is in itself a memorable design feature, trademark of Edition.
Walk further in from the lobby and you’ll arrive at Fysh at Edition, the hotel’s aptly-named signature restaurant spearheaded by acclaimed Australian restaurateur and multi-award-winning chef Josh Niland. “Chef Niland isn’t just cooking fish—he’s orchestrating a whole new flavour adventure. His way of working with fish involves using every part of the ingredient in a smart and sustainable way. At Fysh, his kitchen magic not only brings out the best in each bite but also sets an example for eco-friendly dining. It’s worth a visit,” promises Josh Fluhr, global managing director of Edition Hotels.
Dressed in striking green velvet and timber, Niland’s first restaurant outside of Australia features an impressive sustainable seafood-focused menu made from responsibly sourced vegetables and meats. The restaurant space also extends into a leafy conservatory—a gorgeous indoor garden home to over 300 plants and 162 suspended preserved fern spheres, all born in Southeast Asia.
“At the heart of Edition is a deep connection to local culture”
“We have made sure nature is a big part of our guests’ stay, weaving greenery into the hotel experience. Whether you’re on the sky park or wandering through the beautifully landscaped sunken courtyard garden with over 200 plants—a mix of native and adapted species from Southeast Asia—you’re always connected to the natural world,” says Fluhr.
Created in collaboration between Marriott International and hotelier and nightlife icon Ian Schrager (founder of the legendary Studio 54 nightclub in New York), Edition hotels are known for being vibrant microcosms of the cities they are located in. With this latest opening in Singapore, the brand now operates 17 hotels worldwide—each of which fuses local elements to capture the essence of its destination, resulting in properties with tons of personality.
“At the heart of Edition is a deep connection to local culture,” echoes Fluhr. “Singapore is known for its rich mix of cultures and diversity—a beautiful blend of traditions all coming together in one place. We want guests to feel the genuine local vibe woven into every aspect of the hotel, from our art and design choices to our menus, retail collaborations and events.”
To this end, The Singapore Edition seamlessly melds the vibrant buzz of urban life with the relaxed charm of a tropical resort, capturing the garden city essence of Singapore. Singaporean touches show up in places big and small—like the freshly made kaya doughnuts that greet guests upon arrival, or local tradition-inspired treatments available on the menu at the spa. Located on the second floor, this mood-lit wellness haven sprawls across seven treatment rooms, sunken vitality thermal pools, sauna and steam rooms, and a gym furnished with high-performance weights and exercise equipment.
On the highest floor, a peaceful rooftop terrace is built around a show-stopping swimming pool, which features a white-tiled base embedded with a transparent acrylic screen that provides surreal views into the garden courtyard far below. Enveloped on all sides by luxuriant greenery, stone and terracotta, the rooftop bar is a final enclave perfect for lounging in—encapsulating the laidback, nature-filled spirit of The Singapore Edition.
