Teaming up with The North Face, Gucci has unveiled its highly anticipated collaboration with a collection of ready-to-wear, accessories, luggage, shoes, and—wait for it—tents and sleeping bags. That’s right, you can now stargaze from a Gucci tent.
Alessandro Michele has recently enlisted and endorsed a roster of emerging designers for #GucciFest back in November, and this marks Gucci’s next collaborative endeavour. And what better contender than the quintessential purveyor of outdoor gear than The North Face? The collaboration is exactly how you might imagine a Gucci-fied camping trip: it’s Moonrise Kingdom meets the Alps, complete with babbling brooks and vast mountain views. Shot by Daniel Shea, the campaign video is a sun-stained love letter to the great outdoors, with Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ’70s tune ‘Bad Moon Rising’ as the soundtrack.
From quilted midi skirts to logo tees, the collection has something for everyone from the maximalist glamper to the laidback hiker. Based off original pieces by The North Face in the ’70s, the outerwear is a delightful clash of maximalist print and statement hues rendered as plush puffer jackets. The collection also falls in step with both Gucci and The North Face’s commitments to eco-sustainability. The luggage are constructed from ECONYL®, a nylon fabric regenerated from fishnet, carpets and other offcuts. In a time where the indoors has become more of a norm than the outdoors, nature feels all the more like a balm to our souls—and this collaboration is certainly making the case.
