There was one particular skirt from the spring/summer 2025 collections that made a lasting impression on me: Miuccia Prada’s new take on the mini – a scuffed Tippex-white thigh-grazer scattered with BDSM rings. The rigid lacquered porthole skirts and pencils clipped to carabiners were also excellent, but I was bowled over by the mini.
Ms. Prada can always be relied on to deliver a great skirt. Miu Miu was, naturally, another stellar skirt fest: from lightweight nightie slips to colour-blocked leather styles and jersey versions emblazoned with retro patterns. It also provided plenty of inspiration for how to style a skirt in 2025, whether it’s with a track top, a tight-fitting tee, swimsuit or cami.
Chopova Lowena’s shows also read like a skirt wish list, and for 2025, the brand’s beloved knife-pleated carabiner skirts were reimagined alongside new frothy and bubble-hem styles, adorned with the brand’s charming embellishments. On the other end of the scale, those who prefer their skirts slightly more conventional should look to the lace-trimmed midis seen at The Row, which are the perfect outfit base-layer.
