Spring/summer 2021 might have been the most physically distant fashion season yet, but if there’s one thing it’s given rise to, it’s norm-defying fashion presentations. Deftly riding this wave is Roger Vivier, which introduced an interactive movie game to showcase its latest collection. The presentation harks back to the label’s longtime affair with the silver screen—the house of Roger Vivier has designed shoes for the likes of Ava Gardner, Marlene Dietrich and Catherine Deneuve.
Much like Black Mirror’s groundbreaking choose-your-own-adventure ‘Bandersnatch’ episode, this cinematic experience turns viewers into players as they make their way through six different rooms. Each room represents a different film genre—a result of creative director Gherardo Felloni’s love for films: “I love movies of every genre: comedies, tragedies, thrillers… In my view, the Roger Vivier brand is intertwined with actresses, and in particular French ones,” Felloni said in a press statement. “This season, I decided to combine all the genres and to propose a fun immersion in the seventh art.”






In the game, players are accompanied by none other than award-winning French actress, Isabelle Huppert, who has won two César awards, one Golden Globe, two Best Actress awards at the Cannes Film Festival, and three prizes at the Venice International Film Festival. The quest is simple: to find a key by answering questions to progress to the next room. One of the most immersive rooms is the Hotel Vivier Cinémathèque lobby, which cinephiles will recognise as a tribute to David Lynch, Tim Burton and Dario Argento.
Spoiler alert: the final room is a visual, sensory feast of pastries, fruits and flowers alongside Roger Vivier’s spring/summer 2021 collection. Key pieces to look out for include the new Miss Vivier Flowers bag and the Vivier Flower slide, both of which are sure to set any self-proclaimed film buff’s heart aflutter.
