There once was a time when contact lenses were the way to go. Worn by both lovers of intello-chic and normcore aesthetics, glasses are once again the definition of cool in 2023. Just think back to last March’s Paris Fashion Week, when Miu Miu presented a much-loved show, in which Miuccia Prada showcased a new femininity, rebellious and spontaneous, in which most of the models wore prescription glasses.

From the runways to the streets, prescription glasses are all the rage

On Thursday June 15, it was supermodel Emily Ratajkowski’s turn to give optical frames back their fashion credentials. In the streets of New York, she appeared in a very 2000s ensemble of wide-leg jeans and a printed halter top. The ultimate accessories? A pair of white sneakers and oval-framed glasses.

Such is the number of stars falling for prescription glasses that certain trends are beginning to emerge. Long considered old-fashioned, rimless models seems to be the obsession of recent months. Fashionable stylist Veneda Carter and Bella Hadid have been making several appearances wearing similar models with gold details.
