Show review in a sentence: This season it was all about exquisite skirts, jeweled details as well as endless and rule-breaking styling possibilities.
Designer: Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons
Location: Fondazione Prada
We might just have a Prada butter-orange in tow: call it the colour of the season. With Enhypen, Carey Mulligan and Sadie Sink in attendance, the Prada spring/summer 2026 show unfolded at the Fondazione Prada’s Deposito in Milan. For this collection, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons looked at the mismatched nature of how we dress today—and, of course, made it Prada. Dubbed Body of Composition, this year’s collection was a study of contemporary fashion as we know it. The ethos of Prada from the outset has been to challenge notions of what it means to get dressed, and the purpose of certain garments—and this showing did just that.
What sparks the joy of a Prada show is the sheer multitude of configurations and purposes at play. It was clear that Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons have noticed the key elements that truly speak to their audience: oversized utility jackets, an assortment of off-kilter kitten heels with statement details (this season, encrusted jewels at the back of the heel), and of course, the star of this collection, in my opinion, exquisite skirts. Upturned silk skirts resembling meringues were paired with outdoor sandals, while opera gloves climbed above the elbow, matched with classic Prada blouses bejewelled at the collar and with button shirts styled underneath them. It inevitably raises the question we continue to ask: where does contemporary fashion end and couture begin and how much of it is meant to blur? I, for one, am excited to see how the styling of this collection will play out, particularly in the many ways it can be layered.
The beauty of Prada lies in its endless permutations, but also in the humour of imagining what we might slip into our bags and the many imaginative ways we could wear them. As for what we are coveting? The jewel encrusted collared dresses and blouses, beautifully panelled pleated skirts and of course, the delectable dripping gems from Prada Fine Jewellery’s Couleur Vivante collection that accented the looks beautifully.
