In the three years since its launch, Our Second Nature has carved out a niche for itself in Singapore’s womenswear space. The label is known not only for the clean lines, relaxed shapes and muted colours in its apparel but also for the instinctual, dream-like lifestyle it promotes. With the debut of their homeware line, that mood is something you can now transplant into your own home.
To get a sense of the kind of pieces the brand will be putting out in their new lifestyle range entitled ‘Living by the Second’, pop into their impeccably furnished flagship store at Chip Bee Gardens, full of eclectic but elegant furniture and unique home decor pieces.

The first release from the new line is a collection of ceramics handmade in Singapore. Designed in collaboration with Singapore-based ceramic artist Rosalind Boots-Lim from ByRos Bespoke Ceramics, the pieces of tableware are characterised by Boots-Lim’s signature aesthetic: gentle curvatures and organic shapes in the same earthen tones that bring to mind Our Second Nature’s fashion arm.
Using the slab and pinching technique, the collection was made with clay from UK and Australia. The pieces are complete with imperfect ridges, a deliberately rustic finish and have been hand-painted to make each one has a singular set of quirks. Each ceramic has been fired by an 80-year-old Singaporean craftsman, who used a high temperature of 1200 degrees Celsius to make the wares durable and long-lasting—good to use in the microwave and dishwasher.

This collection will not be the last set of ceramics Our Second Nature will put out. If you miss out on taking a piece from this limited edition line home, you won’t have to wait too long—according to the brand, a second installation of stoneware is slated for release in the next year.
And if you’re looking for something special to brew in your new ceramic cup, consider the brand’s gentle blend of Kuki-Hojicha and Chrysanthemum tea—for a soft, languid start to the day.
