Even with heavier-hitting designers such as Tom Ford and Ralph Lauren missing from this season’s New York Fashion Week calendar, throngs of fashion fans showed up in their best streetwear garbs. A promising start to this eventful month, might we add.
We’ve witnessed well-documented brands like Proenza Schouler, Coach and Jason Wu rule the runways. But also in place of other fashion week mainstays, showing this season are budding young talents such as Chinese designer Kim Shui, who is championing the East-meets-West movement among her peers, and buzzy New York label, Area, with designs charged with ‘80s spirit and dazzling embellishments. And we’re only certain that more will take centerstage in the weeks to come—as the fashion crowd moves from city to city.
Off the runway, New York City is peppered with good reapings from the style collective—of skin-baring silhouettes, impactful headgear and colourful knits.
