Count on fashion’s enfant terrible to shake up the Moncler formula. Rick Owens has teamed up with the Italian label to create a standalone capsule collection, alongside a custom tour bus. This standalone collection is separate from the Moncler Genius project, which enlists a rotational roster of fashion’s most creative minds—from JW Anderson to Simone Rocha.
As the rest of us pine for travel again, Owens pitched his idea of travel, too. But instead of picturesque hotels and far-flung flights, it’s desert installations, an insulated apocalypse-ready tour bus and empty parking lots. The collection itself was inspired by his wife and muse, Michèle Lamy’s most-worn garments, rendered in Moncler’s signature nylon duvet. In step with Owens’ rebellious approach to design, the pieces stray from what you’d typically expect of a puffer-driven collection. Moncler’s trademark puffer quilting was reassembled and deconstructed—kryptonite for any die-hard Rick Owens loyalist.
The Moncler + Rick Owens Collection will be available from 22 October at Moncler’s flagship at Singapore Marina Bay Sands and online at Moncler.com.
