Fashion Month is in full swing, having made its way across New York, London and now transforming Milan and Paris into a stage for all to see. At the centre of it, the latest and greatest in beauty and fashion have stepped into the spotlight—with exciting new debuts, fresh takes and spellbinding showcases. Beyond what we already know, the shows hold everything up to a new light; it’s the spirit of experimentation and appreciation of artistry that keeps us coming back for more.
At the spring/summer 2027 runways of Milan and Paris Fashion Week, that sentiment is very much alive and well. If this has been the year of embracing colour and maximalism in the make-up space again, then the shows have fuelled us with a wealth of inspiration. Spiky protrusions and smudged-out eyeliner were on fierce display at Matières Fécales; Hodakova trumped their guests with a trompe-l’œil moment; Gucci’s sultry atmosphere found new forms with make-up artist Sam Visser‘s magic—who sent out seductive look after seductive look. While it’s true that there is plenty to feast our eyes on, certain details and looks deserve special mention—uncover them all below with the Vogue Singapore beauty team.

Matières Fécales
At its core, the show was a manifesto of resistance—and there was no better demonstration of rebellion than through provocation. SFX artist Catalina Sartor’s spikes poked out of cheeks and décolletages, eyeliner ran down miens, and lip colours escaped their lines. In one particularly arresting look, the eyes took on a crimson hue and the irises were obscured by a mesh-like overlay.

Gucci
Talk about bringing maximum drama to the table. Make-up artist Sam Visser has never been one to shy from colour, so it comes as no surprise that he has opted for a smorgasbord of high-octane shades this season for the Gucci presentation; a diverse and saturated colour palette ranging from hot pink to electric blue which are applied in bold swathes ringed by a dramatic smokey eye.

Vaquera
On the same runway where neons made a reappearance, the face was transformed into a light-catching surface. Packed onto the lids and framed in haloes of purple, the glitter did all the talking for an otherwise-bare complexion. To match, the puckers were chromatic and sparkly in finish.

Hodakova
Fish-eyed was the brief at Hodakova. Continuing her close connection with nature, Ellen Hodakova delved into marine life for spring: a sea salt-strewn runway, a soundtrack referencing 1988 film Le Grand Bleu, and fabric textures that mimics how we mistreat our ocean (read: fishing nets). A contemplation of what we see—and choose not to see—fake, wayward eyes were drawn on lids, to create a trippy, optical illusion of its own.

Acne Studios
Tight ringlets and equally kinky bangs are the moment for Acne Studios’ Rococo-ish runway. Bolstering an otherwise no-makeup makeup look, cheeks and lips were painted cotton candy pink, bridging the soft romanticism of the Renaissance-inspired past with the present.
