There’s food, and then there’s fashion food. And one such person who brought this notion to the next level? Brianna Hollingsworth. Gaining all the buzz lately for her runway-inspired creations—each one akin to a mini (and delicious) art piece—the South Jersey-born creator has carved out her own little edible universe on Tiktok under the moniker Matrixxgirl.

She started young; her uncle, a chef, sparked her love for food, and her grandmother signed her up for cooking classes at twelve. Years later came the tug-of-war between food and fashion—two passions she couldn’t quite separate. Then one night, a scroll through Pinterest, a glimpse of an Undercover look, and voilà, runway on a plate was born.

Her favourites (and mine) include a sweet treat inspired by the golden dress from Demna’s recent Gucci debut: a glossy gold crème brûlée on a sculptural plate because, as she says, plating really is the “make or break.” Then there’s the Dolce & Gabbana fish dish with silver scales and garlic butter, and her Betsey Johnson-inspired sweet pickled dish. Her latest? A Fecal Matter spring/summer 2026-inspired vanilla rose cake—floral, pastel pink and softly romantic, a little sweeter than her usual dark vibe.

As for her fashion inspirations, they span Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto and Ann Demeulemeester—the mood leans dark and avant-garde. She calls her work “cool dishes that push boundaries”, and that’s exactly what it is. Even her dream dinner guests—John Galliano, Rick Owens and Coco Chanel—feel perfectly on brand.
And when she’s not in full Matrixxgirl mode creating runway fantasies out of frosting and fish, she’s cooking what she calls her “comfort meal”: a medium-rare filet mignon with mashed potatoes and roasted honey carrots, all lovingly made by her at home. Because of course, the girl who turns Rick Owens into dinner still finds peace in steak and mash.

Share with us about your love for fashion—how and when did it start, and what continues to excite you about it?
My love for fashion started back in high school when I really started to express myself and feel inspired and influenced. This was back in 2015 or so. For as long as I can remember, fashion has always made me emotional—I would tear up just watching runway shows. I think creativity is a beautiful gift that we all have, and fashion is such a strong expression of oneself. Fashion was the start of me feeling secure and confident in my own skin. I think it tells a story, and it’s timeless. It will never get old to me.
Tell us a little more about your passion for cooking—how and when did it begin, and what do you love most about it?
I started cooking at a very young age, around twelve. My uncle was a chef and a huge inspiration throughout my journey. My grandma put me in cooking classes at that age and I loved it. I started cooking more and doing everything from scratch around 2023—really challenging myself. It brought me so much peace. I genuinely love cooking; it’s 100% my love language. I love cooking for others. It’s been very therapeutic for me, and I love setting new goals and accomplishing them in the culinary field. It gives me a strong sense of accomplishment.

How did you decide to meld these two passions of yours together and start posting on social media?
I was posting some cooking Tiktoks in 2024 and it just wasn’t clicking for me. I’ve always loved fashion, and focusing only on cooking felt like I was giving up my dream in the fashion world—and that didn’t feel right. I couldn’t find my “thing” in fashion. No matter what I tried, the passion wasn’t there the way I saw it was for others.
I thought maybe I could dress nicely while cooking or set a certain aesthetic, but again, it didn’t feel right. Then one day I was scrolling through Pinterest, looking at Michelin plating, and I just felt like we needed more cool, sexy dishes—something that really pushed boundaries. Then I saw an Undercover look and immediately thought of food—they both came up on my feed at the same time. That’s when it clicked. I was going to turn runway into food. I was so excited I woke up early the next morning to cook and film.
Walk us through the process—from the initial spark of inspiration to the end product.
I’m still getting the hang of it, and I’d love to attend culinary school at some point because I know it would elevate my dishes by a lot. Right now, I just go off whatever creativity flows with me while I’m playing around. I usually look at food on Cosmos and Pinterest, then I look at runway looks. Once I find a look I like, I focus on the colours and start thinking about what ingredients I can use that match that palette.
Then I decide on the cooking process, because that can affect the colour of the original food. For instance, when I did the Dolce & Gabbana look with the fish plate, I needed to keep it white and silver-scaled, so I soaked it and baked it in garlic butter and herbs. Once I start plating, that’s when it makes or breaks the dish. I try to find interesting ways to make it stand out, to make it feel different but still really capture the vibe of the runway look. I usually play runway shows while I cook, and Aphex Twin always gets me in the zone.
What are some of your favourite or most memorable dishes that you’ve made so far?
My favourite so far will always be my Dolce & Gabbana look. I also really loved the Betsey Johnson one, and the recent Gucci look with my crème brûlée. Those really stood out to me.

Your videos have gained traction for their runway-inspired creations, are there any designs you’d love to recreate from this season?
There are so many collections from this Paris Fashion Week I’d love to recreate. I haven’t done a Rick Owens dish yet, so I would definitely love to do something from that show.
Who are some of your favourite fashion designers?
Some of my favourite designers are, of course, the legendary Rick Owens. I also love Yohji, Ann Demeulemeester, Junya Watanabe—really anything avant-garde. I’m most comfortable in black and in specific outfits. I love vests and jackets with asymmetrical zipping; that will forever be my thing. So any brand that does that is for me.
If you could host a dinner for three designers, who would be your dream guests—and what’s on the menu?
If I could host a dinner for three designers, it would be: one, Rick Owens; two, John Galliano; and three, the Coco Chanel herself, if that were possible. This is a hard question because I’d honestly love to host a dinner for every brand. I think each brand brings out a different kind of creativity in me, which is the fun part—it helps me step out of my comfort zone and into an exploration of different colours and textures.
For John Galliano, I’d create something very dramatic and fun. For Rick Owens, everything would stay dark and really focused on architecture—crazy toppings of sugar glass and fried elements to give it that brutalist design and feel. And for Coco Chanel, it would have to be the classiest, richest dish I could make—something sultry, and a little edgy to keep it within my realm of work. I’d focus on light tones and shades of white. The menu for these dinners would take me a long way of prepping, so it’s hard to say exactly what I’d serve, but whatever it would be, it would be extremely cool—and of course, very sexy.

If you could open a restaurant, what would it look like—what kind of vibe, menu, and playlist would it have?
If I opened a restaurant right now, it would have a brutalist interior that feels like a beautiful set-up for a runway show. Aphex Twin would be playing—it’s proper runway music to me—and maybe there’d even be an actual runway running through the space. Silver plates, a futuristic atmosphere, something that’s fun and inviting.
What do you hope people take away from your videos?
I hope people see my work and feel inspired. I hope the level of creativity I bring opens up doorways for others to come up with niches of their own. I want to inspire people to keep working, creating, thinking, and just putting their work out there.
Finally, what’s next for you?
The vision is huge for me. I want to switch things up and start taking inspiration from music videos, do looks from male models, and post more frequently. I’d love to host dinners for big fashion houses and keep expanding my creativity. I also want to release a cookbook and, one day, open a legendary restaurant that combines the world’s two favourite things—fashion and food.
