I’m a Macbook Air defender through and through. Whilst I love my trusty midnight Macbook Pro currently stationed at my office desk, it’s really the Air that has seen me through the gruelling times—between my meetings, shoots and erratic travel schedules—and one that I can’t imagine living without. Thanks to its light and slim body that fits easily into my everyday tote, it’s the perfect laptop that suits all my basic desktop needs, delivering on performance and function all at once.

Over the past year, the lines between Air and Pro seem to have been blurred. It could be the number of new iterations that have been outwitting one another but now assuredly, with the arrival of M4, the Air is getting another leg up.

Below, here are seven thoughts I had after using the all-new Macbook Air with M4.
- It’s gloriously blue and deliciously thin. The Macbook Air’s new colourway comes in a brand new metallic sky blue. For the most part, subtle, but stunning when the light hits.
- Albeit not in the reviewer’s guide and I might be wrong about this but the keyboard feels crisper and smoother somehow, as if it’s been treated with a sandpaper. I compared the experiences of typing out notes with my previous version of the Macbook Air and the Macbook Pro and my fingers can attest to this theory. Not a revolutionary stat but for the everyday user who’s sensitive to sensory impact, this means a great and now-satisfying typing experience.
- I’m obsessed with the screen—a new vivid brightness that goes hand in hand with the 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display before me. Like my earlier sentiment, everything screams crisp.
- If like me, you’re used to the Macbook Pro—it’s easy to recognise how the M4 chip’s impact is prevalent; by way of faster processing speeds and efficient video exporting. You barely miss a beat whilst switching between tabs and apps.
- Zoom calls are still a weekly thing and what I did first notice is a clearer version of myself staring back and in focus—thanks to the laptop’s 12-megapixel camera and Centre Stage feature.
- Call it the effect of a shiny new toy but I’ve been more inclined to enlist Siri on the new Macbook Air and true to Apple Intelligence, scheduling events and meetings has been a breeze. She seems sharper and more well-built, given that she’s been steadily answering questions I would have normally typed into the Google Search Bar.
- A day at work often means 20 tabs open on Chrome, Photoshop, Zoom and Spotify running all at once. And what is astonishing is after a long day, I can still stream an episode of The White Lotus with 20 percent battery left to spare after. That’s what an 18-hour battery life gets you.
The Macbook Air is now available here.
