Last season, Miuccia Prada presented a splendid assortment alongside Raf Simons for the brand’s spring/summer 2023 showing. Showcased at the Via Valtellina in Milan, the Italian label toyed with the idea of conventions and social acceptability. On the runway was a presentation of creased markings which sat deep on mannish blazers, boxy sweaters and dresses. The location proved to be a collaboration with director Nicolas Winding Refn and saw the entire set built out of paper with squares intentionally torn out to mimic windows—lit up to look as if someone was watching television in the other room.
So what might we expect this season? While the brand teases a grey, floral mirage on its Instagram page, fans are anticipating the arrivals of celebrities such as Chinese singer-songwriter Cai Xukun and Korean singer and rapper, Jeon Somi. The visionary designs of the legendary duo are, as usual, up to one’s imagination for now, but if last year’s offerings are anything to go by, we can most certainly look forward to a helping of viral sartorial favourites.
