For its last spring/summer 2024 season, Hermès spoke in unassuming waves of quiet luxury. The runway saw deep autumnal tones of burgundy, black and brown, akin to shades of the leather goods that the house is built upon. Upon first glance, the pieces were relaxed and easy-going but look further and you’d find subtle brand codes weaved effortlessly. The tailored coats were crafted with saddle-shaped pattern cutting, while flowy dresses were decorated in patterns identical to Hermès brogues. The collection emulated an air of ease, achieved with keen attention to detail and meticulous craft.
This upcoming collection seems to be headed in an allied direction, with teasers of the show a feast for the senses. Where flashing scenes of buttery leathers, knits and sumptuous leather goods are accompanied with snippets of footsteps in the rain, the ring of a bell and a spinning record—concocting a sleek and sensual vision of the contemporary Parisian woman.
