Brows: they’re as good a measure of the current beauty zeitgeist as anything. In recent years, following the 2010s reign of block brows and bushiness, we’ve seen a return to subversive styles, from ’90s-esque, razor-thin widths to bleaching them entirely. And just when we thought that their moment in the beauty spotlight was fading, a spate of celebrities have turned out this month wowing us with their coordinating hair and eyebrow statements.
With her seventh album Mayhem about to drop next month, Lady Gaga has been stepping out with bluntly cut black locks, featuring cropped bangs, deemed the ‘jellyfish cut’. It’s a look that’s all the more arresting given her bleached blonde brows, providing the perfect canvas for her jet-coloured tresses to shine.
On the more subtle side, Greta Lee adopted a similar look—albeit pared down—while attending New York Fashion Week recently. With her naturally dark hair worn loose and flowing, a delicate detail of her mien had been adjusted: namely, brows that appeared ever so lighter both in hue and fullness. Bleached, but not quite.
