Maximilian Davis has ushered in a new era for Ferragamo, infusing the house’s storied legacy with his signature modernism. Deeply influenced by his Caribbean roots, particularly Trinidadian culture, Davis masterfully blends rich colors, precise tailoring, and contemporary sensuality—all while staying true to Salvatore Ferragamo’s vision of craftsmanship and innovation.
For Spring/Summer 2025, Davis explores Ferragamo’s history with the ballet, captured through snapshots in time—an intimate moment between Salvator and dancer-anthropologist Katherine Dunham, or famed choreographer Rudolf Nureyev wearing custom-made Ferragamo ballerina shoes in the 80s. It was a nod to freedom and self-expression, punctuated through one’s wardrobe. Opera coats and parachute dresses rendered in silk nylons, suede and organza took centre-stage, while oversized tailoring and technical tracksuits drove home the maison’s codes. Contrasting the collection’s purity were raw finishes and raised hemlines, injecting this reimagined romance with hints of fetishism.
On the accessories front, each piece was were far from mere finishing touches—they were statement-makers in their own right. The iconic Hug bag was reimagined with supple leather and a softer, more fluid form, alongside a sleek clutch version. The Foulard Hobo, inspired by the graceful drape of scarves, featured a golden Gancini chain, embodying effortless sophistication. Oversized clutches embraced a slouchy, cinched structure, adding casual elegance, while Eva pumps and graphic sandals paid homage to ballet with matte silk ribbon ties and sculptural angles. Archival references came through in fringe-detailed jacquard mules, blending 1940s heritage with modernity, and feather-adorned pumps, where satin-wrapped straps and delicate plumes captured a sense of movement and lightness. Each piece felt like a dance between tradition and innovation, reinforcing Davis’s vision of contemporary elegance.
