First spotted on the Fendi spring/summer 2023 runway, the new Fendi Peekaboo Cut is a seamless weave of the Fendi Peekaboo IseeU’s construction with various perceptible modifications that are a nod to the ‘90s.
Known for its unparalleled craftsmanship and savoir-faire, the Peekaboo silhouette has been an iconic design since its original debut in 2009. Made with the finest leathers, it was quickly seen as a status symbol—the type of bag considered a treasured heirloom. The success and longevity has certainly not gone unnoticed, as the Peekaboo Cut plays on its predecessor’s strongest design features, clinched with a stripped clasp that exposes the iconic metal bar and twisted lock detail. Its distinctive trapezoidal shape remains prevalent, albeit sharpened and polished for the modern woman.
“At Fendi, I am constantly thinking about practicality as well as luxury”, remarked creative director Kim Jones of his spring/summer 2023 collection. Highlighting the latest edition to the Peekaboo family, he emphasises: “Adding heavy hardware to something soft provides a real functionality and makes it interesting.”
For those stultified of the original calfskin make, the reinvented design is now available in exotic skins from crocodile to python. Its angular shape can be carried as a clutch or slung on shoulder, with two varying sizes—Medium and Petite—proving the versatility of the bag. There is an extensive selection of colours to pick from as well, from Seafoam Green to Light Taupe. With all these options on hand, it’s no doubt Peekaboo fans will be spoilt for choice.
