A Barbie x Balmain collection is imminent
Mark your calendars for 13 January. The partnership sees the French fashion designer dropping a 50-piece unisex capsule collection for actual, real-life humans—and entirely modeled by Barbie avatars. Think silk satin suits, strapless mermaid dresses, and revised renditions of his Fabergé dresses from AW12. This teamup will also comprise three Barbie x Balmain NFTs that will be sold via auction.
“As our campaign images make very clear, Barbie and Balmain are embarking upon a distinctly multicultural, inclusive and always joy-filled adventure,” states Balmain creative director, Olivier Rousteing, in a press statement. “For this collaboration, we are building upon the New French Style of Balmain’s most recent collections, once again showing that Balmain is inspired by the truly diverse and exciting beauty found on today’s Parisian boulevards and avenues.”

Giorgio Armani will be canceling all live fashion shows this month
The decision was made in light of the latest Omicron wave. Armani’s company has released a statement following the cancellation, citing that though the shows are “crucial and irreplaceable occasions,” the health and safety of employees and the public take precedence. The affected line-up includes Armani Privé at Haute Couture in Paris—set to occur in late January—as well as his fall 2022 menswear collection alongside the fall 2022 Emporio Armani Collection at Milan men’s Fashion Week.
