DressX joins hands with Meta to design for their 3D Avatars
DressX is officially joining the likes of Balenciaga, Prada and Thom Browne to design a shoppable collection for Meta’s 3D Avatars, making them the first digital fashion retailer to do so. The social media giant—home to Facebook and Instagram—launched their Avatar Store earlier in June, a platform where consumers can customise their 3D Avatars with an entirely new look, be it a fresh blue bob or a complete switch in outfit. The three luxury fashion houses had designed digital looks that were interpretations of runway looks or their signature shapes but with the introduction of this joint move with DressX, the currency of the digital wardrobe for the metaverse can be expected to evolve exponentially with even more room for consumers’ personal expression.

COS to make New York Fashion Week debut
In the world of minimalist fashion, COS is lauded for its timeless silhouettes and reinterpretations of classic staples. This September, the London-based label makes its way to New York Fashion Week for the first time ever, to debut their fall/winter 2022 collection on the runway. COS had previously made their London Fashion Week debut in 2021 at the recognisable Roundhouse in London. On this first-time addition to the schedule for NYFW, Steven Kolb, the CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) commented: “CFDA welcomes COS to New York Fashion Week. Each season we curate an official schedule that reflects creativity, and we are pleased to count COS among this season’s line-up.”

The Yeezy Gap x Balenciaga collection hits Gap’s flagship store in Times Square
Earlier in February, the ‘Yeezy Gap by Balenciaga’ collaboration was dropped via an online activation—merging the sartorial minds of Demna, the luxury house’s creative director, and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Just earlier this week, the collection was brought to Gap’s brick-and-mortar outposts for the first time, beginning with Gap’s flagship store in Times Square. The store underwent an aesthetic overhaul, “reengineered and distilled to its most essential form in Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga’s vision of utilitarian design,” as throngs of eager crowds waited in line to shop the collaborative collection. Other than the physical store release, Yeezy Gap also rolled out the collection along to a theme of dystopia: sending out black vans filled with pieces from the collection into empty parking garages in Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles for shoppers to browse from.

Miu Miu takes over two exclusive locations for Miu Miu Tennis Club
Luxury fashion house Miu Miu gave the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, Queens a complete makeover for round two of their Miu Miu Tennis Club: from signages to white tennis balls and banners around the perimeter splashed with the iconic monogram. First launched in an exclusive location in Saint-Tropez, France, the Italian maison fully customised each spot to celebrate the house’s fall 2022 collection. Both takeovers hosted a stellar guestlist, as celebrities and personalities with a long-standing relationship with the house were invited for a day in the sun—think an afternoon filled with casual tennis lessons and other leisure activities. At the New York-based locale, chosen by Mrs. Prada herself, guests sported the label’s collection: of tennis-inspired mini skirts, cropped button-downs and a sartorial-forward pairing of loafers with socks.
