From hand-picking the no-nonsense slogan ‘we should all be feminists’ to be emblazoned on white t-shirts for her spring 2017 debut to covering the runway for Dior’s spring/summer 2024 show with Elena Bellatoni’s pop art satire of sexist advertising, Maria Grazia Chiuri has never shied away from making bold, feminist statements in her collections for the fashion house.
A firm believer that women should be their own muse, Chiuri considers the beauty of all women when she creates a collection. We’ve seen this through her works over the years, as the creative director consistently draws inspiration and influences from groundbreaking women image-makers around the world, many of whom celebrated in the latest exhibition at La Galerie Dior that charts the house’s ongoing collaborations with women artists.
Tomorrow, the house’s upcoming pre-fall collection will show in New York City, in none other than the hallowed halls of Brooklyn Museum. “Celebrating the founding couturier’s passion for the fascinating American metropolis, this spellbinding défilé will take place at the Brooklyn Museum, reaffirming the symbolic and powerful alliance uniting Dior and the emblematic institution,” the brand said in a statement.
Who’s to be expected on the guestlist? House ambassadors Haerin of NewJeans, Jisoo, Jennifer Lawrence and more familiar faces will undoubtedly each bring their star power to the Big Apple.
Tune in to the Dior fall 2024 show here, live from New York, on Tuesday, 16 April at 8am Singapore time.
