It is as it sounds—a showcase of the fantastical, whimsical, and dreamy holiday range from Dior Beauty, of which pays tribute to a winter wonderland located in the heart of Paris. “Christian Dior drew his inspiration from gardens, especially the Tuileries, the oldest French-style garden in Paris. Today it is still the heartbeat of the City of Lights,” states Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior Make-up. “For this Holiday 2023 collection, it sets the stage for a Christmas fairy tale.” Indeed, this is conveyed via a richly atmospheric campaign video fronted by Anya Taylor-Joy; a blonde enchantress that conjures up flacons of iconic house fragrances in the vein of J’adore, Miss Dior, and Sauvage.
Granted, this is merely the tip of the ice-berg when it comes to standout offerings from the brand’s limited edition holiday range. In 2023, Dior Beauty presents an array of fan-favourite formulas decked out in an arresting new motif created by Italian artist, Pietro Ruffo, that pays homage to the Tuileries. “To develop this composition, I imagined Christian Dior going for a walk and being inspired by every detail,” explains Ruffo. “First of all at the entrance, the gate seems to be sculpted in lace, and very quickly, there is the scent of the rose gardens, the Richelieu rose and the Le Nôtre rose in tribute to the architect of the garden. I drew the pattern to look like the fabrics worn by Catherine de Medici, filled with flowers and movement. There are also statues in the
garden, in particular Mercury and Fame riding Pegasus … And then there is the octagonal ornamental bassin that reflects the splendour of the city of Paris.”
The end result: a stunning tableau of whorls, swirls, and curves embedded upon richly-pigmented blush and eyeshadow formulas, alongside new couture cases for cushion foundation as well as lipsticks that exude refinement and elegance.
