There’s no mistaking the joy that comes with fashion’s favourite month. September kicked off with NYFW, before we headed to London for a showing of British stalwarts such as Simone Rocha and Burberry. Next on the list was Milan—the fashion capital which is home to some of the most storied luxury houses of today’s sartorial landscape. Highlights included Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’s collective vision at Prada; on the runway, much of the garments—such as floaty organza dresses—toyed with notions of travel. The house was not the only one to have taken the globetrotter’s perspective on fashion this season. At Bottega Veneta, Matthieu Blazy took us on an adventure of his own: drawing inspiration from the adroit craftsmanship of various regions around the world.
Elsewhere, there were also houses that knew exactly how to up the ante of showmanship. Diesel, for one, threw a 7000-strong rave under the rain—to which Glenn Martens made sure his models were dressed for the part as he sent out sultry spins on latex and chemically-treated fabrics. Whilst not everyone could take the risk with a blowout dance fest, the buzz was equally formidable at the other shows—in part due to the carefully-curated celebrity guest list for each one.
Kicking things off on the first day was Fendi, which could have brought the roof down with their invitees alone. Apart from the Supers such as Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Kate Moss, global house ambassador Yujin of South Korean group IVE was also spotted sifting through the crowd to take her place in the front row. Prada was yet another star-studded number as throngs of fans stood outside the show to await appearances from their favourite faces—including newly-minted ambassadors Enhypen, Win Metawin, Jeon Somi and Sana of Twice. Of course, returning friends of the house such as Hunter Schafer and Letitia Wright also made their presence known.
