German-based footwear label Birkenstock aren’t just having a fashion moment, they’ve quickly become a sartorial staple. Birkenstock’s iconic two-strap Arizona sandal has seen collaborations with fashion house Valentino and cult label Rick Owens, with celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Heidi Klum sporting the pair as part of their rotation. Recently, a pair weaved its way, yet again, into pop culture through a cameo in the Barbie movie (in a pink iteration, naturally).
Another popular model from the brand is the Boston clog, which is known for its comfortably moulded footbed and understated design. Just like the Arizona sandals, storied fashion houses soon came knocking with intent to collaborate. Dior added its signature utility buckle to the piece, while Manolo Blahnik’s iteration went the other direction with a blinged-out emblem.

This time, Birkenstock joins hands with the unlikeliest of brands–Tekla, a Copenhagen-based homeware label which specialises in quality bedding and sleepwear. With both of the brands’ stellar commitment to comfort, albeit in their differing categories of products, the collaboration seems to be fitting. “Birkenstock’s reputation for functional and quality footwear and Tekla’s mastery in creating distinct and comfortable sleepwear unite,” Klaus Baumann, managing director at the label’s line of creative collaborations Birkenstock 1774, shared via press notes. “By combining our expertise, we deliver a unique collection that not only looks great but also embodies the feeling of home.”

Channelling the respective expertise of both brands, the collection features both the Arizona sandal and the Boston clog with soft fleece lining–akin to a snug bed for your feet in colourways that range from tonal beige and blacks to summery lavenders, sage green and muted yellows. The same palette is also seen in the range of sleepwear within the collection, which comprises of breezy kaftans, easy shorts and pants as well as light long-sleeved shirts.
The collection will launch on 12 October online as well as at selected retailers globally on 17 October.
