There’s plenty that goes into a productive workout. There’s first, the steely state-of-mind, the equipment that enables every movement or even that encouraging instructor that is keeping watch on your form and making sure you don’t slack off all at the same time. And amidst all of that? I’ve found that putting on a good set of training gear is akin to an armour that not just ticks off the practical boxes but also psychologically, a surefire trick to make you feel good and ready about sweating it out.
These days, the options are endless. We’re spoiled for choice with variations of cuts, fabrications and colour. Think silhouettes that are flattering and designs that are pretty enough to be worn beyond the gym. Just fresh off its drop, Lululemon’s Glow Up Collection took things up a notch with a series of buttery smooth and body-hugging separates. Featuring a held-in fit that cinches with comfort, the new gear adapts easily to every swift movement. From a Glow Up Tank with built-in cups to Glow Up Tights that features an inaugural waistband design, of minimal seaming and a new bonded construction, it’s easy to feel empowered just from putting the kit on. And I can safely say, after going through an intensive 50-minute workout, I felt supported and bolstered with the new line.
With training gear, there’s a new set of requisites to look out for. Fabric to be sweat-wicking, comfortable but not too loose to risk unwanted exposure. Fit to be snug, tight and breathable. Support to be of medium to high coverage when it comes to sports bras and padded tanks. All of the aforementioned to withstand a wide range of movements, from vigorous burpees and dumbbell snatches to bent-over rows and reverse crunches.
On that note, see the best training gear to cop for that next sweat session.
