Luxury electric vehicle brand AVATR is the brainchild of a trio of some of technology’s most dynamic powerhouses. Changan Automobile’s engineering expertise, Contemporary Amperex Technology Company’s (CATL) battery innovation and Huawei’s intelligent technology converged in 2018 to give birth to the car company. In just a few years, it has become a force to be reckoned with in the Chinese automotive industry. And earlier this July, AVATR made waves by landing on Singapore’s shores for the first time. Its flagship model, the AVATR 11, is a spectacular reimagination of premium electric mobility, made possible through a singular philosophy—luxury led by intelligence, uncompromisingly executed.
The AVATR 11 bears the signature of Nader Faghihzadeh, the acclaimed Iranian-German designer who once shaped icons at BMW—and now redefines intelligent luxury for a new era as Chief Design Officer at AVATR. Sculpted to concept-car perfection, but wholly at home on the street, it is an uncanny practice in paradoxy. The silhouette is all softly sleek lines, curving gently around a floating body home to commanding F-shaped LED lights and smart frameless doors, and over an elegant coupe-style top that boasts a large panoramic glass roof. In fact, the 11 was such a remarkably designed vision of the future that it netted the envious Red Dot Design Award in 2024. Inside, the heady dream of electric-vehicle futurism continues.
A blend of full-grain Nappa leather and sustainable materials ushers you into a world of quiet comfort and effortless luxury. Each minute spent inside is an immersive feast for the senses, courtesy of the 25-speaker Meridian Premium Sound System, a triple monitor display and an indoor lighting system that projects a jaw-dropping gamut of 256 colours. To dispel any doubts of the brand’s surety in the electric vehicle space, AVATR made sure to put its money where its mouth is—the performance under the hood is as arresting as its appearance.
Standard- and long-range variants exist to fulfill every consumer’s needs, with 90kWh and 116kWh batteries (respectively) available. Fully supported by supercharging, peace of mind is always at hand with the 11. For example, the 90kWh battery is able to restore half its charge in the blink of an eye, going from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes (the 116kWh battery achieves the same in an astonishing 25 minutes). And when in motion, the AVATR 11’s performance grants drivers a degree of speed and control only possible in an EV. Because of the immediacy of torque available through its electric motors, the Standard Range 11 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 6.6 seconds, with the Long Range variant doing so in 6.9 seconds.
AVATR’s vision for the future was not simply to build an excellent electric vehicle—it was to craft a technological herald of the highest order. The 11 is all that and more, transforming the very paradigm of luxury motoring through advanced intelligence, electric performance and breathtaking design. Unsurprisingly, the brand is on the cusp of taking things a step further still with the AVATR 12, seamlessly bridging the gap between the automotive and the couture. The limited-edition showpiece is co-designed by Faghihzadeh and renowned fashion visionary Kim Jones, former artistic director of Dior Men’s and Fendi Women’s Ready-to-Wear, with only 700 units available globally.
