Show: Acne Studios fall/winter 2025
Designer: Jonny Johannson
Location: 61 Av. de l’Observatoire
The vibe: In a landscape that is constantly changing, consistency is a medal to be proudly worn. Acne Studios’s Jonny Johannson has mastered this seemingly effortlessly. For the brand’s fall/winter 2025 collection which was unveiled within the familiar echo of 61 Av. de l’Observatoire, he explored the juxtaposition of nature through the lens of his nordic upbringing. The result? A showing that intricately balanced the tranquility of the outdoors with the cutting-edge bright lights of the city, a subtle balance Acne has come to be known and loved for. It’s this very energy that saw the front row teeming with the industry’s hottest names to know, from Doechii to Peggy Gou, known for their own daring interpretations of style.
The vision: “A Nordic upbringing develops a deep connection to nature. Nature and urban cities have always had a relation that fascinates me. It is the tension and contrast between the two of them that I have tried to portray within this collection,” shares Johannson. It makes sense then that what manifested on his drawing board was the most extraterrestrial version of what one could conjure out of nature. The comfort of the teddy bear got an abstract and larger-than-life makeover (no, really, the silhouettes were massive and looming), fashioned out of faux fur and shearling; knitted scarves made for off shoulder tops paired with sleek and painfully slender trousers and my personal favourite: accessories that strongly called to nostalgia. Luxury ball point pens as necklaces and dual toned notebooks as earrings.
What to shop from the collection: With this line up in particular, Johannson showed that he might teeter towards the edge of the wonderful, wild and weird, but at the core, the person that wears his clothes and the story they wish to tell takes precedence. In this universe their manifestation presents as a product of mixing the fuzzy with the chic–almost like growing into one’s own after the fog and comforts of childhood. On our wishlist? The star product which is an extension of Acne’s Camero line. This time, the Camero Hotel silhouette came in a supersized make and a delectable assortment of crimson and beige. We also couldn’t help but look out for all the new iterations of the much-loved Bowlina bag. And this season’s version in faux ostrich in shearling is something worth shouting home about. We just know we’re about to see these everywhere.
