Michael Kors to show 40th anniversary show on 20 April
American designer Michael Kors is celebrating a milestone 40 years this year—and he’s planning a grand celebration to mark the occasion, digitally, of course. Come 20 April, the designer will present a “multilayered digital experience across the brand’s social and digital platform”, reports WWD. Having long been a close supporter of the theatre, the designer will be putting the spotlight on New York’s hard-hit theatre industry, and both The Michael Kors Company and Kors himself will be donating to The Actors Fund. “I want to use this celebration to spotlight another institution that means a great deal to me, and that could use our support—the New York theatre community,” Kors told WWD. “I’m grateful and excited to share this anniversary collection and to continue celebrating the city that made me who I am.”

Living for the fashion statements in Emma Stone’s upcoming Cruella
The hottest topic in fashion last week came courtesy of Disney, with the release of the official Cruella trailer. Starring Emma Stone as the eponymous villainess, the one and a half minute-long clip served up several already-iconic scenes (that dramatic flaming entrance! The Vivienne Westwood-inspired punk looks!) that had the fashion set falling over themselves. Set in the 1970s, Stone portrays De Vil’s ascent to mad fashion designer obsessed with animal pelts—and the beginnings of her obsession with dalmations—in this wacky prequel. And with British costume designer Jenny Beavan on board, we can only look forward to more fantastical outfits come May, when the film hits movie theatres and Disney+.
Uniqlo set to reveal +J spring/summer 2021 collection
If you were among the hordes of fans queuing outside Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo’s flagship Orchard Central store last year to get your hands on the +J collection, here’s another reason for you to start getting your gams ready for another queuing session: the Jil Sander-designed collection will be returning for spring/summer 2021. Not much has been released about the collection, save for a teaser image (below) and a statement from the brand promising “essential modern uniforms that only Uniqlo and designer Jil Sander can create.” Keeping our eyes and ears to the ground for more information.

Rebecca Minkoff shows AW21 collection on OnlyFans
Goodness gracious, American designer Rebecca Minkoff is certainly getting saucy. In a, quite frankly, crowded digital Fashion Week where designers are racing to make their collections and presentations stand out, Minkoff has made the rather controversial decision to show her autumn/winter 2021 collection on racy, subscription-based social platform OnlyFans.“As a company, we always want to be a part of emerging platforms to better connect with our customers,” Minkoff told BoF in an interview. “Joining OnlyFans offers a new way for us to leverage our loyal fanbase as a brand and provide exclusive content that otherwise may not be available on other platforms.” Is this going to be a norm in the fashion industry? Only time will tell.
