It’s been 11 years since global fashion brand Uniqlo first partnered with German designer Jil Sander on +J, a capsule collection that captured the minimalist essence of Sander’s eponymous brand. Fast forward to today, and the successful collaboration is back. Amidst the clamour of a global pandemic, Sander’s new collaboration brings a much-needed dose of calm and structure—if not into your life, then into your wardrobe, at the very least.

Launching today in stores, the collection is a tight edit of Sander’s greatest hits: perfectly-cut supima cotton shirts, snug knit dresses, sharply tailored coats, and practical cool weather-essentials like cosy cardigans and, of course, parka coats (a Uniqlo mainstay). The colours of the collection are also calmly reassuring—aside from dependable black, grey and navy, there are also creamy whites, stolid pinstripes and a delicious burgundy that could have been decanted right out of a bottle of Pinot Noir.
“It’s a very personal collection,” Sander told British Vogue of the collection, her first in almost a decade. “There’s nothing here that I wouldn’t actually wear. The vision of +J to provide high quality design at democratic prices has lost none of its impact.”
With a travel bubble between Singapore and Hong Kong on the way, and cooler weather upon us, we pick our favourite pieces from the Uniqlo +J collection that we will be adding to our wardrobes.
