There’s nothing plain or simple about September’s entertainment line-up. Heady drama, nail-biting suspense, explosive action and lovingly crafted animation are all here. Eat your hearts out, viewers—there’s more than enough to go around, with plenty of room for seconds.
First up is Alice in Borderland Season 3. The hype is real. Nearly three years ago, the prior season took the number one spot on Netflix’s Global Non-English TV list on premiere weekend. This newest season isn’t looking to slow things down in the slightest. Breathtaking cinematography and kinetic set pieces are balanced by emotionally compelling characters struggling to survive in an immersive world. All these elements provide an engrossing backdrop for a killer third season—and a welcome return to the dystopian realm of the Borderlands.
If you want to sit back and relax, though, Pokémon Concierge‘s stellar stop motion craftsmanship, cosy ensemble of fantastical creatures and wholesome storytelling has your back. In the mood for more drama? Look no further than psychological thriller The Girlfriend, which weaves a manipulative tapestry of paranoia-fuelled family conflict between Olivia Cooke (who plays the titular girlfriend) and Robin Wright, or the newest Korean blockbuster series, Tempest, with its star-studded international cast.
For everything in-between, look to period drama House of Guinness, inspired by the real-life story of one of Europe’s most famous dynasties; part two of Wednesday Season 2, which continues its macabre tale of mystery at Nevermore Academy; Gen V Season 2, a prescient reminder of the dangerous allure of power and privilege (and an overall bloody blast of a superhero show); or Slow Horses Season 5, driven by a career-defining performance five series in the running from Gary Oldman.

Alice in Borderland Season 3
Arisu and co. are back for a riveting third season full of deadly games and even deadlier villains. They might have made it to the real world at the end of last season, but the line between reality and insanity is thin and it’s clear that the Borderlands aren’t finished with them yet. After Usagi is pulled back in by an enigmatic figure, Arisu rushes to save her and all hell breaks loose. The stakes—and level of production quality—are higher than ever.

Pokémon Concierge Season 1: Part 2
Sensational stop motion animation and wholesome whimsy are back with more episodes of this hit series inspired by the well-beloved franchise. Now that she’s embraced more of her confident side, in no small part thanks to her loyal companion, Psyduck, concierge Haru faces new challenges at the resort—and, of course, plenty of new Pokémon. Things take a turn for the dramatic when she’s confronted by a trainer from the city who has ties to her past.
Watch Pokémon Concierge Season 1: Part 2 on Netflix from 4 September 2025.

Tempest
Tempest might just be the biggest, baddest roundup of international talent in a Korean series to date, on and off screen. Gianna Jun (Kingdom), Gang Dongwon (Uprising), John Cho (Star Trek) and more star in this espionage thriller, where an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate opens a veritable Pandora’s box of political intrigue and backstabbing borne by government agencies and rogue nations alike. And make no mistake, the people behind the camera are also a force to be reckoned with—Kim Heewon (Vincenzo) directs, Heo Myeonghaeng (The Roundup: Punishment) co-directs and Jeong Seokyung (Decision to Leave) writes.
Watch Tempest on Disney+ from 10 September 2025.

The Girlfriend
Perspective is everything. Love or lust? Desire or greed? Ambition or power? These questions lurk behind each corner of The Girlfriend, based on Michelle Frances’ novel of the same name. Robin Wright plays Laura, whose perfect life includes a glittering career, a loving husband, and a precious son. However, that life gets turned inside out and upside down when her son brings home a new girlfriend, Cherry, played by Olivia Cooke—who might not be all she seems.
Watch The Girlfriend on Prime Video from 10 September 2025.

House of Guinness
From screenwriter Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, this new series is for all the beer and history buffs (and lovers of good period dramas) out there. The show is inspired by the story of the Guinness family, set in stunning 19th-century Dublin, with all of its shadowy back alleys and stately mansions. In the wake of the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the patriarch of the titular brewery, his children vie for power and influence.
Watch House of Guinness on Netflix from 25 September 2025.

Slow Horses Season 5
Gary Oldman can’t stop winning—even if his character in Slow Horses is ornery, lazy and (somehow, remarkably) flatulent. The actor has earned numerous awards for his portrayal of Jackson Lamb, who leads MI5’s infamous division of dysfunctional agents. Returning for a fresh fifth season, this British spy thriller serves up a dish of good old-fashioned detective work, accompanied by a cast of endearing characters, acerbic dialogue, and well-paced plotting.
Watch Slow Horses Season 5 on Apple TV+ from 24 September 2025.

Marvel Zombies
Spawned from the What If…? anthology series of alternate stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Zombies gives the age-old question a face lift: how would you survive a zombie apocalypse, but this time the zombies are superheroes? In this MCU miniseries, a group of survivors have to band together and find a cure in the face of overwhelming odds, including infected Avengers. The show features an all-star cast, including Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd and more, all reprising their previous roles in the MCU.
Watch Marvel Zombies on Disney+ from 24 September 2025.

Gen V Season 2
In a world where superpowered individuals are as human (i.e. fragile, conniving and egotistical) as the rest of us, public safety is never guaranteed. The first season of Gen V was a sanguine, hormonal thrill ride from start to finish and a pleasing world-building complement to the hit show, The Boys. Season 2 looks to peel back the curtain even more on the adolescent strain of superheroes who study at Godolkin University, where politics and power grabs are curriculum mainstays.
Watch Gen V Season 2 on Prime Video from 17 September 2025.

Wednesday Season 2: Part 2
The cool and charismatic Wednesday Addams returns to wrap up Season 2 with four final episodes. Part 2 doubles down on the season’s characteristic blend of morbid wit and gothic mystery. Wednesday is pushed to her limit as she struggles to rein in her powers and deal with otherworldly threats—as well as the continued presence of her mother on campus. A face familiar to Nevermore (and the show’s viewers) is on the horizon, too, with Lady Gaga set to play Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary teacher at the academy.
Watch Wednesday Season 2: Part 2 on Netflix from 3 September 2025.
