Here at Vogue Singapore, we make sure to champion talent on all fronts. While the ongoing Vogue Singapore x TaFF Innovation Prize aims to hone Asian entrepreneurial talent, we also have platforms for creatives just starting out.
Cue the Vogue Singapore Talent Prize 2021, an initiative that hopes to uncover the next generation of storytellers who bring our values and mission statement home—that is, to create impactful visuals and intelligent narratives that inspire our readers to dream, all with heart to drive change for good.
Keeping in line with the Prize’s goal to cultivate local creativity is our partnership with globally-lauded Singaporean fashion brand, Charles & Keith. Founded in 1996, the label continues to empower women through everyday fashion, with campaigns that have been graced by global stars such as Hailey Bieber and Ju Xiao Wen. Today, Charles & Keith is available to shop in multiple continents around the world, elevating Singaporean entrepreneurship to an international stage.
We’re looking for storytellers that love fashion and have a point of view.
The Prize will spotlight five local creatives between the ages of 18 to 30, tasked with the challenge of creating a brand campaign. The eventual winner will stand a chance to win $2,000 in Charles & Keith vouchers plus an internship at Vogue Singapore and Charles & Keith. Shares Norman Tan, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Singapore: “We’re looking for storytellers that love fashion and have a point of view. Dreamers that have a vision of what beauty stands for today, and can effectively communicate that in a medium and style that cuts through the noise. In short, this Vogue Talent Prize is to find creative pioneers.”
Adds Terence Chiam, Creative Content Manager of Charles & Keith: “We hope to see a sense of uniqueness in the creations about the world of Charles & Keith, as well as the abilities of the creators to showcase their own take on what the future of fashion can be.”
As we join forces to discover and mentor creatives, here is everything you need to know to get involved.
Who: From current students to recent graduates, the Vogue Talent Prize is open to anyone creative. If you’re a photographer, writer, fashion designer or illustrator based in Singapore, between the ages of 18 to 30, all you need to do is encapsulate Vogue Singapore’s mission statement through the medium of your choice.
What: After an initial selection process, five finalists will be tasked with the challenge of creating a brand campaign. From there, they will have the chance to share their work through an exclusive Vogue Singapore online feature. After a round of panel and public voting, one winner will be chosen, who will then go on to work on a campaign with Charles & Keith. The winner will also get S$2,000 worth of Charles & Keith vouchers, accompanied by mentorship opportunities from local industry figureheads as well as a feature in Vogue Singapore’s March issue.
When: With the initial round of applications wrapping up on August 20, five finalists will be chosen shortly after. Out of the final five, the eventual winner will be announced in October.
