Matthieu Blazy’s genius is unsurprising to all. The current creative director has launched himself to the peak of the fashion pyramid, continuously pushing the boundaries of fashion innovation whilst retaining the house’s heritage and ethos.
For the autumn/winter 2023 season, Blazy looked to the Italian streets as his primary inspiration. There were light and unconstrained fabrics such as leather that were shaved to be more weightless. Layered dresses with sweet flower embroideries, deconstructed 1950s dresses, and little black dresses followed suit. The now-iconic leather tank top and denim from Blazy’s first season were also present, closing out the show.
On the accessories front, many house signatures returned, albeit evolved and reimagined. The beloved puddle boot sees an update with a sleeker toe cap and elevated heel. Bulbous jelly pumps and opulent lambskin mules donned the feet of many models, the silhouettes evident of the brand’s vision for the modern Bottega woman. As for bags, the Sardine is reintroduced in a shoulder bag iteration, featuring a more capacious size. New models such as the Gemelli bag were also presented, signifying that Blazy has no intentions of slowing down when it comes to accessories.
