In case you missed it, the Venice Film Festival is here again. Now in its 83rd edition, stars everywhere are back at the Lido to usher in the next era for the silver screen. Premiering at the festival are crime-thriller Primetime starring Robert Pattinson, Wild Horse Nine and Bucking Fastard, to name just a few of the releases we’re counting down to. It’s also the perfect occasion to spotlight the people who have graced our screens—this year, it was George Clooney who was honoured with a lifetime achievement award.
Cinematic excellence aside, the glamour of the affair really comes from the surreal sight of seeing the big names sail down glistening waters by boat. Stepping gracefully onto the carpet was none other than Kendall Jenner, who made her debut in a shimmery gold number and her signature brunette locks; Nina Dobrev arrived with martini green chiffon trains trailing after her; while Carlos Sainz and Rebecca Donaldson made a special appearance ahead of the Italian Grand Prix. Getting a glimpse of the showstopping gowns and jewels is part of the experience, but it’s equally spellbinding to watch hours of backstage prep—particularly in the hair, make-up and nail department—come to life. With plenty more appearances to witness over the next few days, see the most riveting beauty looks thus far, below.

1 / 10
Nina Dobrev
When you’re wearing an Armani dress as arresting as Nina Dobrev’s, the right instinct is to pair it with a muted look up top. Her slickback and soft smokey eyes lent a sultry atmosphere that still feels understated.

2 / 10
Kendall Jenner
There’s something about a side parting that feels effortlessly chic, and Kendall Jenner gave it an edge with her zigzagged rendition. Having one side of the hair tucked behind the ear also set the stage for a stunning earring showcase.

3 / 10
Marina Ruy Barbosa
The Brazilian actress certainly knows how to make an entrance: with her golden curls on full display, the honeyed hue gave her complexion a candlelit glow.

4 / 10
Vittoria Ceretti
A little asymmetry can do a lot, as seen on the Italian model. Her sleek locks were tucked behind the ears, save for a face-framing tendril that perfectly accentuated her jawline.

5 / 10
Chase Sui Wonders
Going in the opposite direction of classic Hollywood waves, Chase Sui Wonders opted for choppy baby bangs to mirror the cut-out details on the back of her gown.

6 / 10
Madisin Rian
Evening glamour calls for sparkle, which the model wore front and centre in the inner corners of her eyes. A glossy lip completed the look, as did a touch of rosy blush in her mid-face.

7 / 10
Bianca Balti
Making a case for the anti-blush blush, the Italian model kept her face clean and nearly-bare to give her winged corset number all the attention. Instead of eyeliner and false lashes, a wash of champagne pink eyeshadow opened up the visage.

8 / 10
Paola Turani
Here is evidence that eyemaxxing works when you pick the right hues for your eye colour. Paola Turani’s piercing blue gaze was framed in diffused brown shadows to create a striking eyeline. Not to be missed were her nails, which were chromatic in finish to match the sequins on her dress.

9 / 10
Brittany Snow
Behold, the power of a kiss curl—it added just the right amount of flair to the American actress’ side-swept curls. A matte nude lip and diffused flush on the cheeks rounded out the ensemble.

10 / 10
Denny Méndez
A good up-do always deserves its flowers. Denny Méndez piled her ringlets up high for a lifted, sculpted appearance, which simultaneously put her muscles and décolletage on flattering display.
