During his tenure at the house of Valentino, creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli has focused his collections on a balance of reverence for the past and looking towards the future, all while remaining current and relevant for the present. This ethos resonated in Piccioli’s autumn/winter 2021 Valentino Act Collection. Romanticism, sensuality and elements of punk came together beautifully, perhaps most notably in the house’s latest release, the Valentino Garavani Stud Sign bag.
Cue: Son Ye Jin. The South Korean actress and Valentino DiVa stars in the latest Valentino Act Collection campaign, featuring the Valentino Garavani Stud Sign bag. Set in a theatre, it’s a fitting backdrop, since the Valentino Act Collection was presented in the Piccolo Teatro of Milan. In the accompanying video and stills shot by Mok Jung Wook, the Crash Landing on You star models the house’s newest iteration of its Rockstud collection of accessories.
Dressed in two striking black-and-white looks—a ruffled shirt worn with a blazer and shorts, along with a shirt-cape-shorts combo—while carrying the Valentino Garavani Stud Sign bag in black, Son Ye Jin embodies the pretty-meets-punk spirit of the bag. A marriage of older and newer codes of the house, the bag’s design is rooted in classicism, yet contemporary at the same time.
To showcase the Valentino Garavani Stud Sign bag in white, the actress dons another look from the Valentino autumn/winter 2021 collection: a cut-out turtleneck paired with a pleated mini, with a sweater-cape thrown over, along with knee-high Atelier boots. It’s equal parts cool and polished, a dichotomy exemplified by the Valentino Garavani Stud Sign bag.

Constructed out of grainy calfskin leather, the bag features the signature V logo—an update of the original logo introduced by the house’s namesake founder, Valentino Garavani—nestled prominently on the flap of the bag. Contrasting against the clean and elegant design of the Valentino Garavani Stud Sign bag is the chain strap, which lends a welcome element of punk.

The strap features a series of Rockstuds—a newer code of the house, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year—or more specifically, the larger Roman Stud, linked together with rectangular joinery in an antique brass finish. The Roman Studs are also an homage to the house’s heritage as a Roman brand, modelled after the bugnato in Roman palazzos, and, of course, a signifier of punk culture.
Besides black and white, the Valentino Garavani Stud Sign bag also comes in Rose Canelle. The bag is lined in Valentino red nappa leather, with hardware in an antique brass finish, and includes an adjustable and detachable leather strap.
The Valentino Garavani Stud Sign bag is available in Valentino boutiques islandwide.
