Investing in statement jewellery is one of the easiest ways to update your wardrobe this summer—but how to ensure that any pieces you purchase don’t have a hugely negative impact on the planet? Luckily, a growing wave of jewellery brands are creating beautiful pieces that also have the sustainability credentials to match.
A-listers including Hailey Bieber, Gigi Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski have all been won over by British jewellery brand Missoma, which uses 100 per cent recycled gold and silver, while Jennifer Lawrence, Selena Gomez and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, are champions of Monica Vinader’s eco-conscious designs. Meanwhile, cult favourite Alighieri, whose jewellery is handcrafted in London’s Hatton Garden, is popular with the likes of Kendall Jenner and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Below, see the A-list set’s favourite sustainable jewellery brands.
Missoma

With high-profile fans like Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber (as well as influencer Lucy Williams and designer Harris Reed, who have both collaborated with the brand), it’s no surprise that Missoma’s everyday jewellery is popular with the fashion set. Made using 100 per cent recycled gold and silver, the London-based brand is also working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its supply chain.
Alighieri

Founded by Rosh Mahtani in 2014, Alighieri counts Kendall Jenner—who was recently spotted in The Abundant Dream earrings—among its high-profile champions. Designed to be heirlooms, all the brand’s pieces are handcrafted in Hatton Garden, London’s famous jewellery quarter, and made using recycled silver and gold.
