Hair was reaching new heights this spring/summer 2027 season. As it drew to a close in Paris this week, one beauty trend caught us off guard: big, voluminous and frizzy manes—all artfully unkempt, and delightfully windswept.
This season, polished perfection took a back seat, as tresses appeared as though it had a mind of its own. Beyond a few stray flyaways or a teensy bit of frizz, strands were pushed to their limits, defying gravity and conventional styling rules altogether. The line between reality and fantasy blurred further as manes unfurled and were left suspended around the face, with individual strands seemingly frozen in motion. Vaquera and Alainpaul recalled the static-charged aftermath of an electrical storm with spiked, sculpted locks; while Miu Miu and Anteprima looked as though they had been shaped by gale-force winds.
It was a matter of controlled chaos: meticulously constructed styles that appearedx undone, seemingly swept away by the elements—yet, each ‘do, down to the strand, was frozen in motion. It was a wonderful play on performativity, with the theatrical hair trend juxtaposed by the very real possibility of leaving the house with a few strands out of place.
Miu Miu certainly helped spearhead the chaos, thanks to Olivia Colman in tow. Colman made her runway debut as the ever-frazzled English woman, her signature grey locks styled with accidentally-on-purpose flyaways and a low pony—to match her nervous energy, like someone who might be bundling up in light layers and leaving her home in a rushed daze, because she had an errand to run.
Ahead, some of Vogue Singapore’s favourite takes on the chaotic hair trend, as seen on the spring/summer 2027 runways.
