10-word show review: A presentation of cult favourites from jackets to statement skirts.
Designer: Chitose Abe
Location: Dempsey, Singapore
The vision: Set in the ever-familiar surroundings of Dempsey, Chitose Abe’s spring/summer 2023 showing for Sacai was showcased in the elegant confines of Dempsey Hill. Awash in a deep pink light, the concrete space set for Abe’s collection—first presented in Paris in early October—was an homage to all things quintessential to the fan-favourite Japanese luxury label.
Signature silhouettes: Modelled by the likes of Kaigin Yong, Noelle Woon and newcomer Srri Ramm, onlookers were treated to an assortment of Sacai staples, from silk bomber jackets to panelled statement skirts. Some of the lineup’s highlights included: a hybridised tuxedo-dress, flared trousers in various hues as well as sleek, black, high-cut boots. The men’s looks proved to be a lesson in layering for the tropics, as well, with an updated take on the oversized knitted cardigan.
What to shop from the collection: Whether it’s a full look or accessories you are after, Abe’s designs have a penchant for making a statement. Opt for the footwear—from platform sandals to suede desert boots—for an understated approach to incorporating the brand into your wardrobe. If you’re looking to go all out? The collection’s panelled skirts and contemporary take on the tuxedo might just be for you.
