Sun’s out, lobsters out. There’s something different about Tanjong Beach Club in Sentosa and it’s none other than Philip Colbert’s doing. The British pop artist transforms the idyllic beachfront into Lobster Beach, a public art takeover as part of Singapore Art Week 2026.

Welcome to Philip Colbert’s very own playscape. Here, his signature fiery lobster characters are at the mercy of his wildest imagination. An 8-metre tall lobster stands proudly in the centre of the coastline, clad in an ice cream cone covered in sprinkles and melting from standing under Singapore’s blazing sun all day. It’s not alone—3 fellow lobster sculptures stand alongside, gone undercover as beloved sea creatures.

It’s the epitome of a summer holiday, as classic vacation icons of ice cream cones, beach balls and pool floats are reimagined through vivacious hues and the lighthearted demeanour of Colbert’s characters. Sentosa’s shores set the stage for the sculptures to tell a humorous tale of pleasure, nostalgia and impermanence. But beyond the theatrics of it all, Lobster Beach is also a reminder for visitors to sit back, look up and let art transform your life into something larger.

It doesn’t end there. The lobster universe continues to make its mark at Whitestone Gallery Singapore, where Colbert collaborates with fellow artist Aruta Soup to create Playscapes of Dreams, an immersive landscape led by the former’s lobster and the latter’s ‘Zero’ rabbit. Discover how storytelling is brought to life through character, narrative and the concept of play in all forms and sizes. Colbert’s Temple of the Sunflower will be presented alongside Soup’s Shuffle, creating a parallel universe that explores uncertainty and self-reflection. Move seamlessly through the city through the lens of Philip Colbert and all that art has to offer.
Lobster Beach runs at Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa from 24 January to 15 February.
Philip Colbert × Aruta Soup: Playscapes of Dreams runs in Whitestone Gallery from 24 January to 14 March.
