Every season, Jeremy Scott conjures up a campy, glamorous spectacle for Moschino‘s fashion show, and this year was no exception. In place of a runway this season, Scott brought another type of show to life for the Italian brand’s spring/summer 2021 collection. Working with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, better known as the creators of the Muppets, he brought his vision for the season to life on marionette models, complete with a front row of fashion’s most recognisable faces—Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, Edward Enninful and Hamish Bowles, among them.
“In April, I had to pull the trigger and say, ‘I have to stay with this, even if everything goes back to normal and everyone else has [runway] shows again’,” Scott told Anders Christian Madsen.
The ensuing collection brought the romance and detail of haute couture together for an imaginative extravaganza. Bouffant layers of tulle that would make any woman swoon, elegant gowns that would look at home on a modern-day princess and luxurious jacquards that recall the days when such regalia were de rigeur.
