On how she wakes up
Normally, I wake up every morning at 5.30am. The kids don’t wake up until 6.30am or 7am so it gives me a chance to take some time for myself—I’ll do my skincare routine and a meditation. I do Transcendental Meditation, where I just say a mantra to myself. You know when you wake up and you feel like you need a little bit of time to just centre and regroup? It really helps with that. I also do some yoga and stretching—I’ve been doing that since I was 18 and now I’m 37! After I’ve done 20 minutes of meditation and stretching, then I brush my whole body with a dry body brush. I really love it because it wakes everything up in your body—you just feel so re-energised. And then I hop in the shower, which I always end with a cold blast, because it gets the circulation going.
On her morning skincare routine
[While I’m in the shower] I use the Kora Organics Foaming Cleanser and I also keep the Turmeric Brightening and Exfoliating Mask in my shower and use it as a scrub because it’s really invigorating, thanks to peppermint essential oils. After I’ve cleansed and scrubbed, I will use the Citrus Mist and then our Noni Bright Vitamin C – one of the key ingredients is kakadu plum, which is the highest natural source of vitamin C and it’s good for my pigmentation. Then I put a hydrating moisturiser on top and then the Noni Glow Face Oil over that.
[Every morning] I have my celery juice on an empty stomach. I have 32 ounces but you’re supposed to start on 16 [ounces]. I worked my way up as it’s been a couple of years [of drinking it] now. Even my husband [Evan Spiegel, co-founder of Snapchat], who’s really not into health like I am, loves his celery juice now. It took him two weeks and then he was converted. You just get yourself a juicer, a cold-pressed one—the Omega one is really good. And then you rinse the stalks really well, put them in the juicer, and make sure you rinse the juicer straight away – otherwise it’s a nightmare to clean. If there’s one thing people can do for their health, it’s celery juice.
On facial tools
I love two facial tools. The NuFACE is amazing. It’s a great way to lift and keep those cheeks up—because I have quite chubby cheeks! They are very full so they need a little lifting. And then a gua sha is amazing.
On facialists she sees
Ivàn Pol—I’ve seen him a few times for the “beauty sandwich” facial. He uses micro-current to lift your face. Candace Marino also does great facials. And Nousha Salimi does reiki facials.
On her tip for shiny hair
Because I’m into natural [formulas], it’s hard to find a very good natural shampoo. The ones I like are Rahua Shampoo—they have a palo santo one, which I love. In my nighttime routine, I light a candle and burn palo santo—it’s like sage and it helps with clearing. Your hair can pick up energetic things so I thought it was genius that they made a palo santo shampoo. Also, since I’m a big fan of peppermint aromatherapy, John Masters has one with some peppermint in there. Apart from that, just rinsing with cold water is great for the scalp and promotes shine. Sometimes I also put the Kora Organics Noni Glow Body Oil in my hair, leave it for a couple of days and wear the slicked-back look with a side parting. You can also do it with coconut oil—it feels so healthy and shiny after you wash it out.
On her biggest beauty tip
Wear a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face from the sun. My mum was pretty good at always making sure I had a hat on for that reason.
On her favourite exercise classes
There are a few I love: Melissa Wood Health, Megan Roup [The Sculpt Society], Ballet Beautiful. I like to mix things up and because it’s all online, you can do a little of them all. I need to move my body everyday. Because I had two pregnancies back to back, and I was on bed rest in both of them, I really try to book in some time—at least 45 minutes—to move my body because otherwise I just don’t feel as good. Kundalini yoga for me is something that works really well. I see a kundalini yoga instructor on the weekends with my husband—her name is Amy Shea.
On her lockdown obsession
I’m obsessed with my Theragun! I really got into that [over lockdown]. Luckily, my mum gave me it the Christmas before lockdown—and thank God she did! Obviously, we haven’t been able to get massages and I have been carrying around both my two year-old and one year-old—it’s just a lot for your neck and shoulders! The Theragun saves my life. I’ve got a mini one.
On her Zoom-ready make-up look
I like to have a natural, clean look when it comes to make-up. RMS have a new foundation, it’s so dewy and fresh. I put on a bit of highlighter on my brow and cheekbones and on my collarbone, too. On my lashes, Charlotte Tilbury has a new mascara called Push Up lashes and I use that. If you want something to open the eye, I curl my lashes and put that on. I also love the Charlotte Tilbury jewel pod in the Walk Of No Shame colour. Then on my clothes I wear a pop of colour because I feel it just changes your energy, right?
